The Nancy Guthrie Diversion

Like many people, I don't watch mornin g TV shows. So I never even heard of Savannah Guthrie before her mother was abducted.  Naturally, it follows that I don't care about her mother either. At least not much. While it's sad that such a crime was committed, so many crimes like that are committed that we never hear about. What makes this case any different, causing it to dominate the news for the last three weeks?

What very important things are all of us not seeing while we are directed towards a missing 84-year-old woman who held no public office and who mattered only to her and her family and close friends?

Something big, I assume.
